The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) called for public input on its network neutrality regulations draft through “istitlaaa” platform until May 26.

CITC aims for a thriving digital economy by protecting consumers, safeguarding competition, ensuring reliable services, fostering digital innovation, and promoting transparency.

In line with IGNITE execution program and key strategic imperatives of CITC and Saudi Arabia, and based on the development of the communication and information market in the Kingdom and best international practices, CITC has undertaken several key initiatives to invigorate digital content creation, grow potential investments and transform digital media infrastructure.

These initiatives included developing a network neutrality framework for the Kingdom. The regulation establishes common provisions to achieve the following objectives: protect consumer rights to access lawfully permissible content; safeguard local content providers’ non-discriminatory access to the market; promote healthy competition and foster digital innovation; and ensure service providers continue to have control over their operations and differentiate themselves.
