SNC-Lavalin to manage King Abdulaziz public transport project

SNC-Lavalin was awarded a contract by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) to operate and maintain the latter’s bus network, within the framework of the King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport.

In a statement to Tadawul today, April 12, the company pointed out the contract is a joint venture with Dorch Holdings GmbH, under which SNC-Lavalin will provide project management and site supervision services to operate and maintain the Riyadh bus network.

This includes managing all assets associated with automated vehicle management systems, automated fare collection systems, and the smart infrastructure, through a computerized maintenance management system.

The company will devote its digital solutions to analyze data derived from the bus tracking system for more accurate demand forecasts and improved bus service for the residents of Riyadh, the statement added.

It, moreover, will use passenger guidance and information system to increase network operation efficiency, and to provide passengers with real-time updates on their journey and bus schedules.

SNC-Lavalin  had successfully provided program management services and supervision services for the operation and maintenance of the Riyadh metro network over the past four years.

In March, RCRC announced the launch of the first phase of the Riyadh bus service as part of the King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport.

The first phase includes the operation of more than 340 buses serving passengers through 633 stations and stops, in addition to 15 out of the 86 routes within the Riyadh bus network, Argaam earlier reported.

Riyadh metro network consists of six tracks with a total length of 176 kilometers and 85 stations. 

King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport will launch over several phases, starting with the operation of the first phase of the Riyadh bus service and continuing until the entire network is operational during the fourth quarter of 2024.
