Saudi Cabinet approves Public Health Authority regulation

The Saudi Cabinet approved the Public Health Authority (PHA) law, according to the Official Gazette.

 

The regulation substitutes the organizational arrangements of the PHA.

 

The current board of directors will continue to exercise its powers and duties as outlined in the new regulation until it is reconstituted according to the new regulation.

 

The PHA Chairman and the Minister of Finance will agree on all matters related to investing the Authority's funds and developing mechanisms to enable the authority to benefit from its revenues and financial compensation for the services it provides.

 

The regulation of the PHA comprises 14 articles and comes into effect from the date of its publication in the official gazette.

 

The Authority enjoys legal personality and financial and administrative independence and is organizationally linked to the Minister of Health. Its headquarters is located in Riyadh, with the possibility of establishing branches or offices within the Kingdom as required.

 

PHA aims to protect and enhance public health, prevent exposure to infectious and non-infectious diseases, raise general readiness to respond to public health emergencies, and coordinate efforts among relevant entities according to related legal texts.

 

The PHA’s baord of directors will be chaired by the Minister of Health.
