US oil inventories decline less than expected

Crude oil inventories in the US fell less than expected in the week ended Aug. 23, according to a report released by the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

 

Crude oil inventories fell by 800,000 barrels last week, compared to the expectations for a drop of about 2.7 million barrels.

 

Gasoline stocks decreased by 2.2 million barrels, while distillate fuel inventories were up by nearly 300,000 barrels.
