Haifa Al-Jedea, Saudi Ambassador to the European Union
Saudi Ambassador to the European Union Haifa Al-Jedea said that the Schengen visa is still issued in the usual way by visiting the headquarters of European embassies, denying the launch of a system to issue it electronically.
The system that the EU will launch is a new electronic system for stamping passports at ports of entry, and is not related to issuing the Schengen or its requirements, the Ambassador told "News 24" website, noting that issuing the Schengen visa electronically may be adopted later.
The European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson recently stated that, starting from November 10, the new entry and exit system "ESS" will be implemented, which is an e-system that aims to reduce waiting time at ports of entry and end the use of traditional stamps.
