Saudi Sharq said to shut No.2 MEG facility early August for maintenance

Saudi Arabia’s Sharq Eastern Petrochemical Co. plans to shut down in early August its 450,000 mt/year No. 2 monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant at Al-Jubail for about two weeks of maintenance, Platts reported, citing a source close to the company. 

 

The other three MEG units are currently operating at near full capacity.

 

The other MEG units have capacities of 450,000 mt/year for the No.1 line, 500,000 mt/year for No.3 and 700,000 mt/year for No.4, Platts added.

 

Sharq is a 50/50 joint venture between Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) and a consortium of Japanese companies led by Mitsubishi Corp.
