King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) will be fully operational before the end of 2019, Makkah Region authority said during the visit of Deputy Governor Prince Badr bin Sultan.
The airport saw off 542,700 passengers on board 5,218 flights to 20 destinations since it’s opening.
After finishing the 24 domestic terminals, passengers are expected to reach 147,200 per week on board 1,158 flights.
The new airport includes a 120-room hotel, worship rooms and 18,000 square meters of green areas.
According to data compiled by Argaam, the trial run for the new airport was launched in May.
