Tanmiah's MD says average production cap at 500,000 birds in 2023

Ahmed Osilan, Managing Director of Tanmiah Food Co.

Tanmiah Food Co. produced over 500,000 birds per day on average in 2023, compared to 450,000-460,000 birds per day in 2022, with an eye to boost its production capacity, Managing Director Ahmed Osilan told Argaam in an interview.

Tanmiah managed to produce plant-based, large-sized chicken — a fresh local content supplied daily to restaurant chains through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Tanmiah Restaurants for Fast Food Co., Osilan noted.

It reported net profit growth of 21% year-on-year (YoY) in Q4 2023, excluding one-off items. However, the fourth-quarter bottom line would have been flat YoY if one-off items were excluded. Generally, the company sees increasing growth annually and sequentially, he added.

Tanmiah witnessed consecutive growth over the past four years, with its topline currently exceeding SAR 2 billion, marking the fastest growth rate. In contrast to industry peers and market trends, the company’s results were accustomed to growing at a rate of at least 20%.

According to the top executive, the economic momentum in Saudi Arabia, and Vision 2030 development projects especially in fields of tourism, Hajj and leisure, boost demand for foodstuff.

The company operates in three key segments, including the food and agriculture business through its subsidiary Agriculture Development Co., which is focused on poultry production, in addition to the remanufacturing and addition of processed foodstuff in various product categories.

This is besides running restaurant chains under the umbrella of Tanmiah Restaurants. Meanwhile, Desert Hills Veterinary Services Co., one of the subsidiaries, is concerned with the first stage of poultry production through the provision of the necessary vaccinations.

Tanmiah reported a net profit of SAR 75.9 million in 2023, compared to SAR 186.8 million in 2022, while Q4 earnings reached SAR 26.4 million, data compiled by Argaam showed.
