Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Sports launched a tender for the expansion of Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh, MEED reported.

The tender was issued on April 8, and the ministry is expected to start receiving the bids as of May 14.

The expansion project aims to raise the stadium's capacity from 22,200 to 45,000 seats.

In January, MEED reported that the Saudi ministry was preparing to launch tenders to expand and build sports stadiums as part of a capital projects program worth SAR 10.1 billion, according to data available on Argaam.

The ministry tendered in April an early works contract for the expansion and development of the Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam.

The projects are scheduled to be completed before the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, which will be hosted by Saudi Arabia.
