GAC announces penalties on some water bottling, distribution firms

The General Authority for Competition (GAC) announced a decision to impose penalties on a number of establishments operating in the water bottling and distribution sector, for agreeing to not adhere to price competition and sharing customers, both prohibited by Paragraphs 1 and 6 of Article No. 5 of the Competition Law. 

The penalties ranged between SAR 100,000 and SAR 1 million per establishment, the authority said, on its official X account. 

It indicated that the decision is definite with the issuance of the rulings of the Administrative Court of Appeal in Riyadh, turning down the lawsuit filed by those establishments, and upon the expiry of the appeal period for the establishments that did not challenge the decision during the period stipulated in Article 18/3 of the Competition Law.
