Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA) has awarded a SAR 2.29 billion contract to Yuksel Insaat to develop the infrastructure for the third phase of the Riyadh Rapid Bus Transit System (BRT), the Turkish construction giant said in a statement.

Saudi Arabia’s Alinma Bank has extended SAR 872 million in financing for the project.

Construction is expected to be completed in two years following the site handover.

The project mainly includes road rehabilitation schemes, as well as the construction of 21 pairs of Bus Rapid Transit System Stations, 2,574 community bus stops, and seven pedestrian bridges in Riyadh.

Rush-hour buses will be allowed travel in bus-only lanes in an effort to ease traffic congestion across the kingdom, the Yuksel Insaat’s general manager Ahmet Halavuk told Arab News. He said the firm is halfway finished with infrastructure work in other parts of the kingdom, including flyovers and bridges.

Havaluk added that Yuksel is also working on a SAR 610 million project with the Saudi ministry of water project. In addition it is implementing infrastructure projects for Dammam University valued at SAR 350 million, as well as King Faisal University at SAR 245 million.

Yuksel has completed a total of 39 projects in Saudi Arabia worth SAR 8.12 billion, according to Havaluk.
