Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Co. (Saudi Kayan) said on Wednesday it has pushed back its scheduled maintenance by six months to March 30, 2016, as it needs more time to evaluate working conditions at factories.
Argaam reported in February on the company’s plans to shut down production at its ethylene glycol and ethylene oxide units for a period of 60 days in order to carry out routine repairs, which were originally slated for October 1 of this year.
In addition, its polycarbonate plant would be suspended for 75 days, the amines plant for 65 days, and the ethoxylation plant for 61 days.
It did not provide an update on the financial impact expected, or the length of time the plants would be closed.
The company, an affiliate of Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC), said in February that it expected to incur losses of nearly SAR 340 million from the maintenance.
