Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Co.(Samref) has unexpectedly shutdown its vacuum distillation unit which produces 155,000 barrels per day (bpd), Reuters reported, citing an unnamed source with knowledge of the matter.
Another industry source said the shutdown led to a tender for the export of remaining fuel from the port of Yanbu.
The unit produced petroleum products from heavier oils left over from the distillation process.
Samref is an equally owned joint venture between Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) and Mobil Yanbu Refining Company Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation.
