The Haramain High-Speed Railway will play a vital role in handling the growing number of pilgrims to the Kingdom, Arab News reported, citing Dr. Nabil bin Mohammed Al-Amoudi, Saudi Arabia’s Transport Minister.

Al-Amoudi was speaking at the 22nd Cairo International Exhibition and Conference on Telecommunication and Information Technology, titled “Leadership of the Digital Transformation.”

“The transport system is working intensively in cooperation with a number of other parties to accomplish the digital transformation on several levels in order to increase the efficiency of its work and role,” he said.

The Haramain High-Speed Railway connects the cities of Makkah and Madinah with a journey time of under two-and-a-half hours.
