U.S. energy companies cut 17 oil rigs in the week ending Oct. 25, bringing the total count to 696, General Electric Co.’s Baker Hughes energy services firm said in its closely followed report on Friday.
The gas rig count declined by four rigs to 133 rigs for the week, compared to 193 rigs a year earlier.
