Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Co. (SALIC), which is owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), dispatched its first Ukrainian shipment of wheat, weighing 60,000 tons, to Saudi Arabia on Sept 5., the company said in a statement.

The wheat was produced by SALIC-owned Continental Farmers Group.

Mohammed Bin Sulaiman Al-Mesher, the Saudi ambassador to Ukraine, attended the ceremony to mark the first shipment of Ukrainian wheat in the port of Chornomursk in Odessa city, Ukraine.

According to data available with Argaam, SALIC was started in 2012 with the aim to invest in the agricultural and livestock production in countries that hold comparative advantages in a bid to ensure food security and price stability in the Kingdom.

By the end of 2018, SALIC acquired two Ukrainian agricultural companies and merged them under the name of the Continental Farmers Group. It is now one of the largest agricultural companies in country, managing 195,000 hectares of agricultural land in western Ukraine.
