KAEC’s Industrial Valley begins operation of largest logistics center in Saudi Arabia

The Industrial Valley in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) starts today, Sept. 8, the trial operation for the largest integrated logistics center in the Kingdom, with a capacity of more than 110,000 pallets for storing medical and food products, using the latest technologies and in-line with the latest international standards.

The executing firm began to receive the shipments, store them in the center, and distribute them to the local market, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The logistics center is one of the largest in the region, with an area of 97,000 square meters. It includes 50 meters high shelves that operate automatically with the latest technologies for storing and rearranging goods, in addition to 56 gates to receive all types of trucks, and parks to receive 180 trucks at the same time to facilitate upload and download operations.

The logistics center provides its services to local and international companies, through a strategic partnership with National Unified Procurement Co. (NUPCO) for storing and distributing medicines as well as food products for international firms in the Industrial Valley of KAEC.

Muhannad Hilal, Secretary General of the Economic Cities Authority (ECA), said that starting a center of this size will bring many benefits to the logistics and industrial sector in the Kingdom.

It will contribute to reducing waiting times and upgrading transportation and storage with international specifications, he added.

Hilal further affirmed that ECA will provide one regulatory window to facilitate all governmental procedures and stimulate ease of doing business, which will strengthen the Kingdom's position as a global logistical hub in accordance with Vision 2030.
