Al-Qasabi says Saudi Arabia highlighted global distinct model for flexible dealing with crises

Saudi Arabia made great efforts in managing the repercussions of COVID-19, and provided the world with a distinct model for flexible dealing with crises in various fields, particularly health and economic, Saudi Press Agency reported, quoting Minister of Commerce and Investment and chairman of The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, Majid Al-Qasabi.

The Kingdom was able to provide a global experience in which government efforts were integrated with the private sector, and digital transformation played a prominent role in providing innovative and effective solutions that enabled citizens and residents to obtain high-quality services from the beginning of the pandemic until now, Al-Qasabi said.

He clarified that the Kingdom, since the first day of assuming the G20 presidency, has sought hard work, in partnership and cooperation with all international partners, in order to put all opportunities and challenges on the discussion table, to reach innovative and creative solutions and visions that help overcome the crises facing the global economy, and effective ways to support industry and promote trade between countries.

He added that the Kingdom succeeded in launching the first event of its kind on the sidelines of the G20 meetings, to discuss the role of global and national standards, and standardization bodies, to enhance industrial, economic and social capabilities.

“This, once again, confirms the Kingdom's keenness in discussing issues that chart a better future for our world, global economy, and humanity in general,” Al-Qasabi said.

The minister also pointed out that the standards and elements of the national infrastructure play a pivotal role in raising safety rates, supporting national economies and facilitating inter-trade exchange operations. It contributes to improving the health of the people by preserving the safety in terms of food, medicine, or other consumer products, in addition to improving the services provided to them.

The statements came during the opening of the International Standards Summit held on Nov. 4, on the sidelines of the Saudi G20 Presidency.
