Saudi civil aviation strategy to create global investment environment, says GACA President

The civil aviation strategy aims to develop the sector and create a global investment environment, Saudi Press Agency reported, citing Abdulhadi Almansouri, president of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).

He said that the strategy charts the future of the local aviation sector to lead in the Middle East region, increase its contribution to Saudi Arabia's gross domestic product (GDP), and help achieve the goals of Vision 2030.

Almansouri also indicated that the civil aviation strategy focuses on making the Kingdom a logistics hub, linking three continents to the world in transport and air freight.

The strategy will support several industries that falls under the aviation sector, including air transport, freight and airports, and will help them adapt to global changes and boost their competitiveness. In addition, it will improve the services provided to citizens and residents in the Kingdom, and encourage moving from monopolization to fair competition.

The official confirmed that the Cabinet's approval of the civil aviation strategy as part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 reflects the unlimited support and continuous care provided to the sector, with the aim of creating a diversified and prosperous economy and supporting social and economic development in the Kingdom.

The strategy is based on three main factors, namely supporting the 2030 Vision, enabling the national tourism strategy, and strengthening the local aviation sector, with the aim of boosting the connectivity network in the Kingdom, increasing the share of national carriers, developing the infrastructure and operations of airports, and improving the quality of services, Almansouri said.
