Saudi Health Minister Tawfig F. Al Rabiah and Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) chairman Abdullah Al-Ghamdi announced the launch of a “health passport” to identify residents who received the COVID-19 vaccine.

The health passport will be developed by the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with SDAIA via “Tawakkalna” application, for residents who completed the two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, SPA reported, citing the minister.

The minister called on all Saudis to receive the vaccine, confirming that more vaccination centers will be opened soon across the Kingdom.

“We are keen to provide the safest, internationally-approved vaccine for nationals and expats within a very short time. This will help the Kingdom become one of the world’s first countries that well responded to the COVID-19 outbreak,” Al Rabiah added.

Al-Ghamdi said the passport will be issued to those completing the two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, adding that the Kingdom is one of the world’s first countries to launch the health passport.

Saudi Arabia launched the vaccination campaign on Dec. 17, 2020, Argaam reported.
