The board of directors of Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) approved appointing Omar Hariri as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), starting July 1.

 

Hariri’s experience spans nearly 18 years, beginning in 2004, during which he held several leadership positions in the transport and logistics sectors, the authority said in a statement.

 

Hariri was the CEO of Saudia Cargo and Saudi Logistics Services (SAL) since 2018, leading both companies towards a transformational journey through infrastructure development, introduction of the latest software, modernization of systems, application of international standards in measuring performance, attracting national cadres, and raising localization rates to 95%.

 

From August 2016 to January 2018, he served as the CEO of FedEx Express. Prior to that, he was the Vice President of Commercial Sector at DHL Express Saudi Arabia from November 2014 to July 2016. Hariri was also the company’s general manager in Kuwait from November 2012 to November 2014.

 

During his tenure, Hariri held several positions at DHL Express, where he started as a Manager in Dammam, followed by Director of major accounts, Sales Manager in the Eastern Province, and Director of National Sales from December 2004 to December 2010.

 

He is also a member of several boards of directors and committees, including IATA Consulting, SkyTeam Cargo, Saudi Ground Services Co. (SGS), SGS remunerations and nominations committee, logistics committee at the Chamber of Commerce in Jeddah, and SkyTeam Cargo Alliance.
