Ministry of Commerce clarifies mechanisms for verifying seasonal offers in shops, e-stores

AbdulRahman Al-Hussein, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, explained the mechanisms for verifying seasonal offers and discounts from shopping centers, shops and e-stores, prior to the purchase process.   

Under the conditions set by the ministry, shops and stores are required to obtain and a license to make promotions and discounts, show it to shoppers, and put the discount rate and product prices before and after discounts.   

Al-Hussein stressed that the ministry monitors prices before and after the discount to ensure that there is no fraud or misleading for shoppers.  

He referred to the mechanism of verifying promotions and discounts by reading the barcode on Get Sales app to display their full data.   

To verify the validity of e-store discounts, Al-Hussein said consumers can verify the reliability of the online stores through the ministry’s website or “Maroof” platform, not to be subject to fraud or misinformation.
