Minister of Health, Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel


King Salman issued a royal order, on Oct. 17, on appointing Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel as new Minister of Health, replacing Tawfig Alrabiah who was also appointed as Minister of Hajj and Umrah.

 

Al-Jalajel was Vice Minister of Health for Planning and Development and assumed several other positions in the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Commerce and other authorities.

 

Qualifications

 

Al-Jalajel earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in 2001 from King Saud University, a certificate in leadership and management in 2009 from the US' MIT University, then earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science in 2007 from Saint Joseph's University, the State of Pennsylvania.

 

Positions

 

Al-Jalajil currently holds several positions, as he is a member at the Executive Council of Medical Cities, as well as a board member at the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance, SAUDIA, the General Authority for Competition, and the General Organization for Grain Silos and Flour Mills.

 

He previously served as a board member at Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), the Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf), the Preparatory Committee of the Ministerial Supply Committee, the National Energy Efficiency Program, the National Energy Efficiency Program, Takamul Co., Tamkeen Co., Riyadh Regional Council, the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities, and Jeddah Development and Urban Regeneration Co.

 

He acted as a project manager of Open-Source Operating Systems, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and a member at the General Authority for Competition.

 

Positions in the healthcare sector

 

Al-Jalajil has been a board member at Saudi Red Crescent Authority since May 2017, a board member at Saudi Food and Drug Authority since July 2017, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, as well as the Saudi Health Council.
