Omicron not more severe, vaccines still proving effective: Health Ministry

Muhammad Al-Abdulaali, Spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Health, said preliminary data and studies show that COVID-19 variant Omicron is not that virulent, and the vaccines have not lost their effectiveness against it.

 

In a press conference to discuss the latest developments of the pandemic, Al-Abdulaali said the two-dose vaccination still provides important prevention and protects against severe disease.

 

The booster also enhances prevention against the epidemic and protects against the spread of this mutant, the official said.

 

He added that studies are still ongoing, and the ministry closely follows up with them to take the necessary actions based on accurate scientific approach and provide the public with accurate information.
