Saudi Arabia, Kuwait agree on developing Durra gas field

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Energy, signed today, March 21, a document with his Kuwaiti counterpart to develop the Durra gas field.
 

They also agreed on setting up Al Khafji Joint Operations Co., a joint venture (JV) between Aramco Gulf Operations Co. and Kuwait Gulf Oil Co. (KGOC), Saudi Press Agency reported.
 

The two parties agreed to select a consultant to conduct the engineering studies necessary to develop the field, as per the best techniques as well as topnotch technologies and practices that take into account safety, health and environmental preservation, as well as the development of the most efficient and effective engineering designs in terms of capital and operations.
 

The Durra field is expected to produce one billion standard cubic feet of natural gas per day, in addition to 84,000 barrels of condensate per day.
 

Production will be equally divided between the two partners, based on the offshore separation option, which means that the share of each partner is separated on sea. Aramco Gulf Operations’ share of natural gas, gas liquids and condensates will be sent to the company’s facilities at Khafji, while KGOC’s share will be sent to its facilities at Al-Zour.
 

The project will contribute to meeting demand growth for natural gas and its liquids in the two countries.
