SAR inaugurates railway linking north, east networks

The Saudi Railway Co. (SAR) announced today, Oct. 9, launching the railway linking the north and east networks.

The company also inaugurated the internal network project in Jubail Industrial City, under the patronage of Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province.

The east and north lines are connected via Jubail-Dammam railway, which links the east and north networks and is connected to the internal Jubail network.

The internal Jubail network is a railway serving the industrial facilities in Jubail Industrial City. It extends from Sadara Chemical Co. in Jubail II to King Fahad Industrial Port and Jubail Commercial Port at Jubail I.

According to the company, more than six million tons of liquid and solid materials will be transported annually from King Fahad Port.

It noted that this connection will contribute to providing integrated solutions and logistical services, represented in linking the commercial and industrial ports in Dammam and Jubail via a railway network.
