The point-of-sale (POS) transactions reached nearly SAR 10 billion in the week ended Nov. 26, compared to SAR 9.8 billion in the week before, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that about 142.63 million transactions were processed during the week.
POS transactions represent what consumers spend using ATM and credit cards in shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, etc.

The hotels sector was the top performer, rising by 27%. It was followed by the clothes and footwear (+23%) and jewelry (+8%) sectors.
On the other hand, the education sector was the worst performer, dropping 20%. Telecommunications and transport sectors followed, falling 11% each.
During the week, consumer spending focused on the restaurants and cafes sector, reaching nearly SAR 1.53 billion, or 15.3% of total sales. It was followed by the food and beverages sector with SAR 1.47 billion, accounting for 14.7% of sales.
