RCRC announces launch of first phase of Riyadh bus service

The Royal Commission of Riyadh City (RCRC) announced the launch of the first phase of the Riyadh bus service as part of the King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport.

The first phase includes the operation of more than 340 buses serving passengers through 633 stations and stops, in addition to 15 out of the 86 routes within the Riyadh bus network, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The launch of the first phase of the project, developed as one of the strategic projects aimed at serving the city’s mobility needs, brings a qualitative leap in the public transport sector, enhancing the connectivity of parts of the capital and raising the level of quality of life for its residents and visitors. The five phases of service will become operational gradually.

The Riyadh bus network will total 1,900 kilometers (km) after the five phases become operational. The number of buses will exceed 800 and operate on 86 routes, serving passengers through more than 2,900 stations and stops.

King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport includes implementing an integrated network of trains and buses.

Riyadh metro network consists of six tracks with a total length of 176 km and 85 stations.

King Abdulaziz Project (train and buses) will be launched in several phases, starting with the operation of the first phase of the Riyadh bus service and continuing until the entire network is operational during the fourth quarter of 2024.
