Localization strategy targets qualitative professions: Official

The localization strategy targets the qualitative professions and activities that do not require specializations or high scientific degrees, Asharq News reported, citing Majed Aldahwi, Deputy Minister for Localization, the Ministry Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD).

He added that the strategy will increase opportunities for Saudis to enter the labor market.

The ministry follows up with the supervisory authorities and the private sector a number of strategies that were launched two years ago, Aldahwi said. He indicated that the strategy for the localization of professions, activities and regions also targets localization according to the competitive advantage of each region.

The Nitaqat program announced a three-year roadmap according to activities and sectors, and it is supported by a package of empowerment and support programs and the Human Resources Development Fund.

These initiatives led a large number of Saudis to enter into these professions and activities, the official said. Recently, HRSD announced the localization of a new set of activities and professions in the Kingdom, including the localization of project management, procurement professions and sales professions, as well as outlets providing services for shipping activities and freight brokers, in addition to outlets for decor and women’s tailoring, according to data available with Argaam.
