MODON signs agreement to build SAR 500 mln industrial complex for pharmaceuticals in Sudair

The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) signed an agreement with Eva Pharma, one of the fastest-growing pharmaceutical companies in the Middle East and Africa, to build an industrial complex for pharmaceutical manufacturing and research, with investments worth SAR 500 million.

The agreement aims to develop pharmaceutical industries capable of delivering pharmaceutical security, enabling Saudi Arabia to hold its position as an industrial power and a logistics hub for vaccines and medicines, the state-run SPA reported.

Under the deal, MODON allocated 50,000 square meters of industrial land in Sudair City for Industry and Businesses to establish an industrial complex to produce more than 150 pharmaceutical products, manufacturing 990 million units a year.

The agreement also envisages consolidating technologies provided by the complex's Research and Development Center and working with universities and hospitals in the Kingdom to ensure a rapid response to production requirements.

The industrial complex comprises five pharmaceutical factories, including one for biologics and oncology products, and another for oral dosage forms like dry-powder inhalers (DPIs), bilayer tablets, and orally disintegrating tablets (ODT). This is in addition to an immunosuppressants facility and a vaccine production unit.
