GACA aims Saudi aviation sector to top region by 2030: President

The General Authority of Civil Aviation’s (GACA) President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej 

Saudi Arabia is taking deliberate steps in the aviation sector to top the Middle East region by 2030, the General Authority of Civil Aviation’s (GACA) President, Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, stated.

During his speech at the Supply Chain & Logistics Conference, he explained that work is ongoing to encourage investments, liberalize the air transport sector, and develop economic policies and regulations. This is to directly promote the Saudi aviation sector and make it more stimulating to the private sector, which will be a key partner in implementing future projects.

Locally speaking, all provinces have been assigned a primary airport, be it in design or under implementation. The development of airports is deemed to help fulfill the National Transport and Logistics Strategy’s objectives, Al-Duailej added.

He pointed out that Abha Airport is one of the airports proposed for privatization. There are talks with local and international investors to participate in developing, building, and operating this airport, which will achieve a qualitative leap.
