Housing rent to be paid only via digital channels starting today

The Real Estate General Authority (REGA) announced that financial transactions related to rent payments will be carried out only via the digital channel Ejar, Mada and SADAD, by using billing no. 153, as of today, Jan.15.

The rent payment will be carried out exclusively through digital channels for all new housing rental contracts. As of today, any proof of rent payment operations outside the framework of digital channels will not be considered. This does not include commercial rental contracts, according to REGA.

The authority said that it will gradually stop issuing electronic receipts for new housing contracts, since the payment will be settled automatically when paid through one of the digital channels, without the need to issue a receipt. This is in implementation of the Cabinet decision no. 113 to make the necessary arrangements to provide electronic payment service for rent contracts.

The lessor and the lessee should document the contract with Ejar through a licensed real estate broker, before using its digital payment channels to conduct payment transactions. The rent payment will then be made through Ejar digital channels, and will be delivered to the lessor’s bank account registered in the rental contract within five business days.
