Almasane Alkobra Mining Co. (AMAK) announced that the construction phases of the Almasane mine expansion project—development of the Moyeath orebody—is nearly complete as scheduled.

The hot commissioning of the new processing plant is also nearing completion as per schedule, AMAK said in a statement to Tadawul.

The first zinc and copper concentrate cakes were successfully produced at the new Moyeath Plant on March 25.

The project is 95% complete, and the full commercial production capacity is expected during Q3 2024, the statement added.

The new plant is equipped with advanced technology and processes to increase the production volume estimated of zinc by 80% and copper by 40%, with associated quantities of gold and silver, in addition to reducing production costs and enhancing efficiency and quality.

The company will announce any significant developments in this regard, it noted.

According to data compiled by Argaam, AMAK commenced in December 2023 the operational readiness tests for the new processing plant and expected the tests to continue during Q1 2024.
