Lulu Group plans to open 2 hypermarkets in Makkah, Madinah

Lulu Group will expand its retail portfolio in Saudi Arabia by opening of two new projects in Makkah and Madinah, Chairman Yusuff Ali M.A. said.

The plan was announced on the sidelines of the signing ceremony held in Makkah in the presence of Khaled Al Amoudi, CEO of Jabal Omar Development Co. and Amr Mohamed Kamel, Executive Vice President of Dallah Group and Manakha Urban Project Development Co. The executives believed that Lulu Hypermarket will contribute to the success of these high-end projects.

Jabal Omar project

Jabal Omar, Makkah, will have the first mixed-use project that includes the establishment of Lulu hypermarket in Souq Al Khalil 3. It will be developed by Jabal Omar Development. The new Lulu hypermarket will be within walking distance of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and a part of Jabal Omar project, spanning over a total area of 253,000 square meters out of a total construction area of 2.5 million square meters for the overall project.

The project is scheduled to be completed over seven phases. It will include branded hotels and apartments to serve millions of pilgrims from all over the world who come to Makkah.

Madinah project

The second Lulu project, located in Madinah, is being developed by Manaka Urban Project Development Co. The project will cover an area of 23,260 square feet.

Yusuff Ali expressed his happiness at finalizing the projects in the holy cities, thanking the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the Saudi government for their great support.

"Contributing to the development of facilities in Makkah and Madinah is a long-awaited dream, and I confirm that Lulu Group is committed to bringing world-class shopping experiences closer to the people while creating more job opportunities for Saudis," he said.

He added that the new vision and approach put Saudi development at the center of progress, boosting investor confidence and advancing economic growth.

Lulu Group currently employs 3,300 Saudi citizens, including 1,100 women, in various hypermarkets across the Kingdom. The group plans to generate approximately 1,000 new job opportunities upon completion of these two projects, the Chairman noted.
