Saudi Arabia’s workforce hits 16.8M by Q2-end

According to the authority's data, the number of foreign workers in Saudi Arabia reached about 12.93 million, representing 76.6% of the total workers, while the number of Saudi workers reached 3.93 million, or 23.3% of the total.

Most of the workers in Saudi Arabia are concentrated in the private sector at 66%, followed by the government sector (7%), the public sector (3.4%), and the domestic workers (23.5%).

In terms of educational level, the number of Saudi workers who obtained a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent topped the list with about 39%. Meanwhile, most of the foreign workers were at the secondary education level with about 34.8%.

As for the administrative regions, 63% of the total Saudi workers were in Riyadh, or about 1.75 million workers, then the Eastern Province with about 26%, then Makkah (25%). Foreign workers, except for domestic workers, were also concentrated in Riyadh, reaching about 4.22 million.

As for the number of Saudi workers according to age groups, the survey results showed that the highest percentage was in the age group between 25-34 years, representing 33% of the total Saudi workforce, or 1.3 million workers. Meanwhile, the lowest percentage of Saudi workers was in the age group over 65 years, or 0.4% of the total.

Most of foreign workers in Saudi Arabia were concentrated in the age group between 25-39 years, with about 4.77 million workers, representing 53% of the total foreign workers in the Kingdom.

According to the data, the average monthly wage for Saudi workers was SAR 10,159, compared to SAR 4,376 for foreigners.
