MODON to establish 2 industrial complexes in Makkah, Al-Kharj at SAR 2B

The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) concluded two contracts to establish two industrial complexes in the industrial cities of Makkah and Al-Kharj.

According to a recent statement, the investments of the two contracts exceeded SAR 2 billion.

The industrial complex in Makkah’s second industrial city, which covers an area of more than 1.3 million square meters (sqm), aims to invest SAR 1.75 billion in a bundle of promising qualitative industries, using the most updated manufacturing technologies in production lines.

In addition, it targets implementing prefabricated buildings, which contribute to providing 5,000 job opportunities. It focuses on enhancing national exports by up to 60% of the complex’s production volume to African, European, and US markets, as well as to Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq.

This is in line with MODON’s launch of several development projects in Makkah’s second industrial city, covering an area exceeding 4.3 million sqm, to establish an integrated infrastructure enhanced with basic services and innovative products. This is in addition to launching a 200 mega volt-amperes (MVA) substation to create a competitive industrial environment.

As for the second industrial complex, it is located in Al-Kharj Industrial City, spanning more than 307,000 sqm, with an investment volume of SAR 375 million.

It shall provide about 1,000 news jobs to support construction projects, exhibitions, and events industry. It seek to enhance the formation of iron, aluminum, glass, and plastic fabrics (PVC) industries, targeting the export of about 60% of its production capacity to Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar.
