Saudi Engines Manufacturing Co. (MAKEEN) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) to bolster the Kingdom’s railway infrastructure and develop sustainable maintenance capabilities locally, the state-run SPA reported.

The scope of work includes providing integrated solutions that meet SAR's engines and machinery needs, covering the supply and maintenance of engines and generators, in addition to after-sales services.

Additionally, MAKEEN will supply the necessary spare parts for current and new mtu engines within SAR's fleet, while providing high-speed mtu engines to meet SAR's operating requirements, reflecting MAKEEN's commitment to enhancing reliable local support for SAR's expanding transportation network.

In addition to supply and service works, the MoU entails cooperation between the two companies to establish long-term maintenance agreements aimed at boosting operational efficiency and achieving sustainability in the Saudi railway sector.
