Saudi Arabia achieves 61% self-sufficiency in red meat production

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture revealed that Saudi Arabia has achieved 61% self-sufficiency in red meat production, which reached more than 270,000 tons in 2023.

The Kingdom is witnessing a significant increase in the production of red meat, which significantly helps support local production and enhance food security, the Ministry said in a statement.

It added that this reflects the ongoing efforts to increase local production and reduce dependence on imports, adding that this abundance comes as a result of developing the livestock sector, supporting local breeders, and adopting the latest technologies in livestock production.
