Saudi Arabia signs 29 agreements in poultry sector worth SAR 5B

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) signed 29 agreements in the poultry sector, with total investments amounting to SAR 5 billion.

The initiative aims to strengthen national supply chains and boost the growth and development of the poultry industry by adopting cutting-edge technologies and innovations across production, manufacturing, and marketing, MEWA said in a statement.

The move also supports the Kingdom’s food security objectives.

The agreements were signed during the fourth edition of the Middle East Poultry Expo, held at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center. The event brought together representatives from both the public and private sectors and featured 340 local and international companies specializing in poultry, feed, and animal health and nutrition.

Ali Al-Shaikhi, Undersecretary for Fisheries and Livestock Wealth at MEWA, noted that broiler chicken production in the Kingdom exceeded 1.1 billion kilograms in 2024, while foreign investments in the sector’s production and manufacturing surpassed SAR 1.5 billion.

Al-Shaikhi also highlighted that since its establishment, the Agricultural Development Fund (ADF) has issued over 1,575 loans to the poultry sector, with total financing reaching SAR 10.4 billion as of the end of Q1 2025.

Broiler chicken projects accounted for 1,096 loans worth more than SAR 5.24 billion, while layer chicken projects received 334 loans totaling over SAR 1.98 billion. The remaining loans were allocated to parent stock projects for both broiler and layer chickens, among others.
