The signing of the agreement
Diriyah Co. signed a SAR 4.23 billion contract with a joint venture (JV) to carry out infrastructure development works for the Diriyah project's King Saud University (KSU) area, located in the eastern part of the master plan.
The agreement also entails relocating some of KSU’s utilities and administration offices as part of the development process, according to a company statement today, April 29.
The project was awarded to a JV comprising China Railway Construction Corp.'s Saudi branch and China Railway Construction Group Central Plain Construction Co.
The scope of the work includes the design and construction of alternative utilities for KSU and its administrative offices.
It also mandates the design and construction of a comprehensive suite of critical infrastructure components, including a central cooling plant, water storage facilities, a wastewater treatment plant, a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)/ synthetic natural gas (SNG) plant, a diesel pumping station, a utility tunnel, and irrigation water tanks. This is besides developing the supplementary administrative buildings, warehouses, and maintenance workshops.
According to Diriyah, the total value of contracts signed since the beginning of 2025 has reached approximately SAR 11 billion.
According to data available with Argaam, Diriyah Gate Development Authority began the first phase of rehabilitating and developing Historic Diriyah at SAR 75 billion. The master plan spans seven square kilometers, including the establishment of a variety of tourist, entertainment and other destinations.
