SWCC to pump SAR 108 bln into water projects over 15 years

Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) has developed a 15-year plan for setting up desalination plants and projects at a total value exceeding SAR 108 billion, CNBC Arabia reported, citing a deputy governor, Othman Al-Najdi, on the sidelines of Saudi Russian business council in Moscow.

The state-owned corporation is set to launch a number of projects over the coming year including Jubail III project with SAR 25 billion in investments, Jeddah water desalination plant - phase IV, Rabigh water treatment plant with a production capacity of c2 million cubic meters of desalinated water, and two giant projects in Makkah and Ras Al-Khair.

SWCC, which has been working for years on plans to go public, is responsible for sea water desalination and the supply of potable water to Saudi coastal and inland cities. It is also the kingdom's second-largest power producer, after Saudi Electric Co.
