KBR extends contract with Saudi Aramco

US-based KBR’s Saudi joint venture engineering operation, KBR-AMCDE, has signed an amendment to extend its existing general engineering services contract with the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco), the company said in a statement.

Under the terms of the contract, KBR will provide front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed design, material procurement, and project management services (PMS) to support Aramco’s capital programs in Saudi Arabia.

The amendment will extend the contract from an initial five years to an extended five years, with options for further extensions.

The contract will be executed by KBR-AMCDE using resources located within its Saudi offices, the statement said.

International consultancies are also vying to form a joint-venture project management firm with Saudi Aramco, MEED reported, adding that the shortlisted companies include Lebanon’s Dar al-Handasah, UK’s Faithful + Gould, US-based Jacobs, and Canada’s SNC Lavalin.

The state-owned oil giant is expected to form the new entity by the end of Q1 2017, with the venture focusing on public infrastructure projects planned in the kingdom over the next decade.
