RCJY, Mobily’s Bayanat launch first smart city in Yanbu

The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY) has teamed up with Bayanat Al-Oula, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Etihad Etisalat (Mobily), to open the kingdom's first smart city at Yanbu, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday, citing Prince Saud Bin Abdullah Bin Thunayyan, RCJY's chairman.

RCJY has provided the city’s telecom network infrastructure. It has also built and operates a unified telecom and information technology network in Yanbu Industrial City.

More than 1,800 kilometers of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) cables have been extended to connect around 15,000 residential units and 55 industrial units, Bin Thunayyan added.

About 22,000 and 480 ports have also been set up for homes and business units, respectively, with a single control center for network and services management. 
 
In November 2015, Bayanat signed wholesale agreements with FTTH Mobily, Sahara Net and Shabakah Net to provide smart city services for the residential and industrial areas at Yanbu industrial city, Argaam earlier reported.
