Saudi Arabia to spend SAR 119 mln on water projects

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has signed contracts worth SAR 119 million with three international experts to conduct studies to improve water efficiency in the Kingdom, the ministry said in a statement.

The contracts include a comprehensive water and sanitation plan for all regions in Saudi Arabia, with duration of 36 months and costs reaching about SAR 43 million.

Under the second contract, a 12-month study valued at SAR 14 million will look at ways to improve the quality and efficiency of drinking water. The cost of implementing the actual project could amount to SAR 3.6 billion.

The third contract involves conducting studies and primal designs to build 600 dams in various parts of the Kingdom. The contract’s duration is 12 month with a cost of SAR 62.5 million. This estimated cost of the project is around SAR 11 billion.
