What you need to know as UAE markets open on November 9

Here are some things you need to know as markets open today in the United Arab Emirates.

1) Dubai Financial Market PJSC reported net profit attributable to shareholders of AED 27.7 million for Q3 2017, compared to a profit of AED 35.4 million in the same period last year.

2) Emaar Malls, listed in Dubai, reported a net profit of AED 485 million for Q3 2017, an increase of 11 percent year-on-year (YoY).

3) Dubai-listed Amanat Holdings recorded a net profit of AED 39.9 million for the first nine months of 2017, an 8.5 percent increase YoY driven by higher share of income from associates.

4) Al Salam Bank-Bahrain, also listed in Dubai, posted a net profit of BHD 4.35 million for Q3 2017, slight increase from BHD 4.22 million in the same period last year.

5) Dubai-listed Takaful Emarat posted a net profit of AED 77.9 million for the first nine months of 2017, an increase by 62 percent year-on-year (YoY).

6) Dubai-listed National Cement Co. posted a net profit of AED 1.8 million for Q3 2017, a sharp decline from AED 9.8 million in the same period last year.

7) Drake and Scull International, listed in Dubai, will hold a board meeting on Nov. 14 to review and approve its Q3 2017 financial statements.

8) Dubai-listed Marka will hold a board meeting on Nov. 13 to review its Q3 2017 financial statements.

9) Dubai-listed Emirates NBD on Wednesday said it has started operations in India with the inauguration of its first branch in Mumbai.

10) Oil prices were slightly higher on Thursday, with Brent crude last trading up 0.1 percent at $63.58/bbl, while WTI crude rose 0.1 percent to $56.86/bbl. The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) in its latest monthly outlook raised its estimates on Brent crude prices for this year and next to $53 per barrel (bbl) and $56/bbl, respectively.
