Power projects worth SAR 4.7 bln underway in Tabuk

Ten power projects are currently underway in the Tabuk region, at a total cost of SAR 4.7 billion, state news agency SPA reported.

The projects, most of which are expected to complete next year, include a central high-voltage electrical substation in Al Wajh, Madaen-Dabaa transmission lines, a switching station (Tabuk 12), and the Taima plant expansion project.

The under-construction transmission lines span more than 600 kilometers.

As part of the plan, Tabuk will also establish the Green Duba integrated solar combined cycle plant with an output capacity of over 605 MW, at a cost of SAR 3.5 billion.

The plant consists of four 380 kV transmission lines and two gas turbines. The first turbine will start operations before year-end, SPA said. The replacement of the old power transmitters cost SAR 366 million.

The Kingdom is planning to undertake SAR 7 billion worth of new electricity projects, in addition to expanding the power grid in Tabuk and the Saudi-Egypt power grid link, the report said.
