Saudi commerce ministry tightens inspections of petrol stations

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce and Investment has intensified inspections of fuel stations to ensure abundant supply of petrol products and penalize any violators, as fuel prices in the Kingdom rise from today.

 

The ministry in coordination with other state authorities has set up a joint operations room to protect consumers and promptly intervene in case of any market violations, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

 

The ministry has also allocated monitoring teams to carry out inspection campaigns and handle consumer complaints.

 

Citizens can report violations by calling 1900 or through the “Balagh Tijari” mobile application.

 

The Kingdom’s energy ministry has hiked the prices of Octane 91 petrol by 83 percent to SAR 1.37 per liter, and Octane 95 by 127 percent to SAR 2.04 per liter.

 

The move comes as part of the Fiscal Balance Program aimed to correct retail energy sale prices, to curb the rapid growth of domestic consumption and ensure efficient use of national resources.
