Saudi Arabia could be part of international Syria response: Prince Mohammed

Saudi Arabia is ready to take part in military action in Syria alongside its allies, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said during his official visit to France.

The prince’s remarks came after dozens were killed in a suspected chemical attack in Douma. Syria, however, has denied involvement in the attack.

French President Emmanuel Macron said the priority in Syria is to fight against ISIS and other terrorist organizations, news outlets reported.

Commenting on bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and France, Prince Mohammed said the partnership between the two countries “is very important, especially at this time.”

“In Saudi Arabia we have only used 10 percent of our capabilities,” he said. “Our goal, as per Saudi Vision 2030, is that Saudi Arabia is a focal point for three continents.”

Meanwhile, Prince Mohammed and Macron issued statements agreeing on the “need to curb Iran’s expansionism” in the region.

The international nuclear deal with Iran permits the country “to build a bomb in days after 2025 and this is dangerous,” Prince Mohammed said.

“We are against the Iran nuclear deal as it puts world peace at risk,” he added.
