AACC’s new facility inaugurated at King Abdulaziz Airport

Ahmed Al-Khatib, chairman of Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), has inaugurated on Thursday the new facilities of the Aircraft Accessories and Components Co. (AACC) at its new headquarters at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

The new 100,000 square meter-facility includes four main buildings for the landing systems, manufacturing, management, and repair and maintenance.

The company aims to increase the local maintenance capacity within the next five years. It also aims to export its services and double its Saudi workforce during the coming two years, as well as increase Saudization to 80 percent from 62 percent, he said.

The company can currently handle the maintenance of the biggest commercial aircrafts such as 777, Airbus 320 and 380.

Its future plans are to develop the engineering capabilities on a number of technical and technological aspects, including increasing the repair capabilities of the Typhoon aircraft, manufacturing of major parts, hydraulic systems, Hawk and B-21, and repairing the landing systems of civilian aircrafts, which would be a first in the Middle East and North Africa.

On the sidelines of the inauguration, several contracts were signed between AACC and Saudi Airlines, BAE Systems and Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries.
