Saudi housing ministry builds 19 projects via private partnerships

Saudi housing ministry has undertaken over 19 residential projects through public-private partnerships (PPP), to provide around 21,000 residential units, the ministry said in a statement.

The projects implemented through partnerships with the private sector now cover around 42 percent of the ministry’s backlog. Off-plan projects also will be constructed via public-private partnerships (PPP) after securing regulatory approvals, the statement added.

Last September, the ministry invited private developers to take part in the public housing program in a bid to improve project implementation capacity and clear backlog.

Construction began in ten developments after infrastructure works were completed, namely, Durrat Tabuk project, Wahat  Al Khamis in Khamis Mushait, Al Yasmine Residence in Dammam, Al Farida project in Dammam, Al Ahsa Al Mubarraz in Al Ahsa, Wahet Tabuk, Diyar Al Ahsa, Nasaaj Town in Dammam, Al Badrani in Al Qatif, and Riyadh housing project.

Three projects were finalized in Riyadh, including Diyar Al Saad, Al Jawhara and Eshraq Living, while six projects are nearing completion, i.e. Tilal Abha, Telal Algoroob in Dammam, Rabigh Asghal Housing project, Basateen Tabuk Furnished Apartments, Telal Al Khamis and Durrat Al Madinah.
